Being classed as major surgery a Breast uplift procedure is always performed under a general anaesthetic.
The procedure is approached in several different ways. Considerations are taken to include current breast shape and the extent of any re -modelling required.
Post op scarring.
Be aware for some time post-op, scarring will remain around the mamma site. The scars run downwards towards the lower breast area resembling an anchor shape. They do actually fade away but not for a few years.
Many enquirers ask about the widely publicised “donut” lift. We do offer it but if the breast are large and heavy it will not work.
Breast feeding, weight gain, and subsequent weight loss
These are all contributing factors which bring about the situation where your breast are not how you would like them to be.
Later on in life hormonal changes cause the shape to change which occur at the time of menopause. Or it could be very likely ageing takes its tool.
The Procedure
Produces extremely very good visual effects. Nevertheless some scarring is inevitable. It is necessary to reduce the excess skin and other than excisions there is no other way. Over a period of time however they become less noticeable.
Aftercare
For several weeks following surgery the patient is advised to wear an elastic sports style bra. Normal activities may be resumed after 6 weeks.
Patients usually remain at the clinic for one to two nights depending on the extent of surgery and age of the patient. On discharge the support bandages are changed and at the same time drains removed. For the next few day the patient should avoid physical exertion. The breast uplift surgery bandages will be changed again on the 3rd or 4th day after breast uplift surgery. The sutures are then removed arounder 7 to 10 days. At the same time, the breast uplift surgery patients are given instruction on scar pressure massage. (update we now use dissolving sutures)
