Tummy tuck results

Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty corrects and flattens loose skin in the tummy and and hips area. The most common causes of unfavourable changes to the abdominal shape in women, tends to be either repeated pregnancies and/or obesity as well as dramatic weight loss. During pregnancy, naturally the skin and muscles expands. Often the elastic and collagen fibres of the lower tummy tear and form small whitish scars called stretch marks.

Unfortunately these negative changes are permanent  and remain mainly in the lower abdomen and around  the navel often giving off a wrinkled appearance and the formation of an overhang . Also muscles of the anterior abdominal wall can be toned  up through exercise the improvements are limited as often the shape of the abdominal wall is deformed by excessive layers of subcutaneous fat. The extent of these irreversible changes is very  much individual. Patients who possess extraordinary levels  of excess  abdominal fat are not suitable for abdominoplasty it’s totally inappropriate. It should also be mentioned  a tummy tuck-Abdominoplasty is not a treatment for obesity.  Naturally the procedure is not recommended for women who plan to become pregnant again.

Description of procedure

The final scar is located as low down in the abdomen as possible, and can be concealed with normal underwear or a swimming costume bottom.

Tummy tuck surgery is “major” and always performed under general anaesthetic. On average it takes between 2-3 hours. A crescent shaped incision is placed low in the lower abdomen running between the hip bones. Often it’s necessary to reposition the navel during a  the tummy tuck procedure. The loose skin is pulled downwards and the surplus removed. Once the incision and muscle tightening is complete the navel is repositioned.

The final scar is located as low down in the abdomen as possible, and can be concealed with normal underwear or a swimming costume bottom.

Sometimes it necessary to create two scars (anchor or T incision) this is required when the extra skin needs to be pulled in two different directions-vertical and horizontal.

 Tummy Tuck post op instructions

Following tummy tuck abdominoplasty in Prague surgery the patient remains an “in patent” for the purpose monitoring until the condition is stable, which is usually within 2-3 days. Thereafter monitoring is conducted on an out- patient basis.

Ideally bed rest is advised for 7-10 days. To speed up the healing process, it is very important to wear a compressive support bandage for up to 6 weeks.

From around 3 weeks onwards you can start to take short walks. Moderate physical exercise is fine after 4 weeks, full  physical activities can be resumed after 6 weeks.

Tummy tuck for men

is performed essentially the same way. Only difference can be the reasons for it.  Mainly after major weight loss, when the skin is unable to  adjust  to the reduced volume and diminished fat levels thus producing unsightly excess skin folds. Naturally a prerequisite for a successful tummy tuck outcome -is  good health.
