Six weeks ago I had a nose job

– Septo Rhinoplasty to be specific. I am here to let you know I ventured forth into the land of cosmetic surgery, survived and am now very happy with the result.

As an adult I have always wanted to have this done, mainly to repair the damage from when I was twelve-years-old and broke my nose diving into a shallow swimming pool.

Before going to Prague there are forms to sign and a few simple instructions to follow for two weeks prior to the operation; no Aspirin, multi-vitamins, alcohol, smoking, plus some food to avoid, all of which help slow down your blood pressure for the operation.

When in Prague, I was put you up in a modern apartment with internet access – my home base there for the next two weeks.

On the second day in Prague I visited the clinic to meet with doctor and had a few tests done to prepare me for the operation plus make sure I would not react badly to the anesthesia used.

The following day the operation took place, mine lasted just two hours. One minute I was admiring the sophisticated hi-tech surgery, the next I was waking up with bandages all over my face. The first six hours of recovery are the most uncomfortable; ice packs on my face, tampon-like pads under my nose to stop bleeding – nothing to do, except day dream, sleep and wonder “is this really worth it”. There was no pain just annoyance at having things shoved in your nose and not breathing properly, like having a severe cold.

After two night hospital stay day I went back to the apartment where we could watch videos, surf the internet and go into the town for sight-seein. Prague has lots to see, beautiful castle, buildings, awesome cheap shopping, good food and theatre. Although it was embarrassing being seen with face bandages, I prefer to go out and about in a city where I don’t know anyone then be in London visiting my local corner store having to explain myself.

After a week, had check-ups with the doctor and the internal nose plaster came out, thankfully breathing became easier. A few more days later and some stitches were taken out and I was free to go home to the UK. Throughout all this there is a plaster cast was attached to my face to protect the nose, this stays on for two weeks, then another ten days just at night to protect the nose when you sleep.

chris amos 1The final result can take six months to see exactly what you have due to swelling of the nose, however, in my case I noticed the results as soon as the cast came off two weeks after the operation and have been so happy with my nose ever since!

Most friends don’t even notice that I have had a nose op, this is a good sign that it wasn’t botched up! One guy I know told me he fancied me more now with my improved nose, then before when broken! When I go out I feel more confident with my looks.

chris amos 2People seemed surprised that I would go to Prague to have this done, yet, now, knowing everything about the procedure and how this works I am surprised anyone would consider staying in the UK to undergo a cosmetic operation. Save your money, go away and come back feeling like a new person.
