Hair transplant- Transplant surgery using hair multiplication method
Is hair loss causing you anxiety?
Hair transplant surgery
Let me start by saying hair transplant surgery technology has not as yet reached the advanced stage, where your hair can be restored to the density you enjoyed in early adolescence. Anyone who tells you otherwise-beware! If that’s what you are looking for we cannot assist.
The FHM procedure however can bring about a very considerable improvement. We are pleased to be able to offer a not particularly widely known option in hair loss treatment for men who, like Elton John, are suffering male pattern baldness – Hair multiplication. It involves multiplying your own hair follicles and it even applies to balding women too!
Our surgeon has been successfully performing this procedure since 2004. However our biggest obstacle is people actually believing it works. Mainly because anything not developed either in UK or USA- can’t possibly be any good! We as agents are based in UK and the actual procedure is performed in Prague.
Method FM hair transplant hair transplant surgery
FHM also known by the acronym FUE (follicular Unit Extraction) was first developed by Dr. Gho in 2003 in the Netherlands.
It is currently one of the most suitable methods of hair transplants for both men and women. Since then our team have further developed and refined the procedure making it even more efficient.
This method is particularly suitable for creating a “corner” in front of a receding hair line thinning scalp and is equally effective for thinning hair in women . Successful treatment is possible even in places that are completely without any hair, such as scars (hair loss due to accident, radiation, chemotherapy, burns, traction alopecia or previous transplants using the Strip method).
Compared with other methods the FM methods is for the patient a much gentler method. No scalpel is involved therefore the skin is not in any way cut. Instead a micro needle measuring just 0.60 and 0.65 mm is used. Each Step is painless, the skin is numbed with a local anaesthetic then one –by- one miniscule follicles are removed using a specially developed needle. The donor sites targeted are either at the back of the head or to the sides above the ears. These are the sites where naturally every patient still possesses some hair(follicles) to harvest. The second stage of the procedure is creating graft beds for (implantation) there tiny punctures are created to form the “recipient” site area. These tiny punctures have the same diameter as the sampling needle so grafts fits perfectly in the skin.
This method offers more than just a transfer of hair. In fact, one can say there are partial multiplication of hair follicles. Unlike all other existing methods our way does not totally rob the donor site of its hair follicles completely. A small portion extracted follicular unit remains in the original donor area, which means there is a big chance (60-70%) that the original site will grow new hair follicle.
Hair transplant-using older treatment methods known as “strip”
A scalpel has to be used to create the strip/strips from the donor site. These small strips are then cut into small pieces (fragments).
They must then be transferred to the transplanted area. Especially the first part of this procedure carries certain disadvantages:
- scar at the donor site which remains for the rest of your life and can remain painful long after surgery. Due to tension the skin scar usually stretches over time and is therefore more visible.
- Unnecessary reduction (diminishing) of any yield from potential donor sites. Very imprecise as the exact number of grafts to be taken from the area of the donor site it’s very difficult to estimated. Our method the surgeon uses a sampling technique which is employed first thus giving an exact picture of how much beforehand.
- Depending on the experience of your specialists when removing strips of skin by the scalpel method and subsequently divided into fragments, there may be a contusion of tissue thereby reducing the quality of the grafts. Prolonged exposure grafts to a dry environment (outside the nutrient solution) reduces the grafts.

Removing the grafts from the sampling area |
The sampling areas, most of the neck, the cut strip of skin of different size (up to 3 x 17 cm).The skin in the neck must be stapled, there is a permanent scar. | Grafts from the sampling area are taken one by one with a special needle with a diameter of 0.60 to 0.65 millimetres.Does not need to micro-stitch, heal themselves within 3-4 days without scarring. |
Numbness of the skin | Local – injection. | Local – cold and microinjection special meso aplikátor. |
Preparation of punctures in the transplanted area | Laser – have largely been abandoned.Scalpel transversely or longitudinally to the axis of the head – may result in micro scarring | We use Micro-needle size from 0.60 to 0.65 mm which is the same size as used from the harvest site. Thus ensures precise positioning of the graft in the pucture and precise healing.Absolutely no scarring. |
Inset grafts | Depending on the tools and the geometric shape of the grafts they may not exactly fit into the punctures made. The wound heals within 7 days, swelling is quite common. | Since the same tools used for the collection and preparation of punctures for the grafting, grafts fit perfectly in the micro-hole. Healing takes up to 5-6 days, swelling is highly unusual |
Pain after surgery | Pain from the donor site area (scar) may persist for several months, occasionally even years. | The second day after surgery in the transplanted area there is no pain in the area the donor site. For a few days after surgery faint burning and itching sensation may be experienced. But no great pain. |
Recipient site post op | Grafts may not fit exactly into the punctures made (prism into the notch), can result in inequality of hair and bumpy skin. | The skin is quite smooth after healing, grafts gradually create a natural-looking growth. Results or final effect is slow, it may take 6-12 months. |
Donor site post op | Scar for the rest of your life although thin they can be unsightly and can also stretch and hurt. | Traces of grafts after healing is virtually invisible. Since the donor area retained its embryonic structures these follicular units regrow . |
The number of possible transmitted grafts per day (FU – follicular units) | Units using these methods, can be up to 2500 per day. | Our approach at an appropriate donor site (good density and quality of hair) is around 1300 per day * |
The FM method allows the procedure to be repeated daily as long as is required. During a three day period it’s possible to implant up to 3900 grafts, (not hair-grafts). Older methods make similar claims but only possible only in theory. In practical terms it is not. It would lead to further tissue excisions and places a lot of pressure and pain in the same place.
Hair Transplant Definition
The Hair multiplication treatment– Follicular Hair Multiplication (FHM) technique, was developed in the Netherlands. It works by multiplying living hair follicles and transplanting them, without scarring into the scalp. It’s being taken up so rapidly that FHM is set to shortly become the No.1 cosmetic surgical procedure for men.
How does the treatment hair transplantation FHM differ from regular hair transplantation?
With normal hair follicle transplant technology you lose the hair you possess in your ‘good’ area to replace hair in your bald area. The new Hair multiplication system, by contrast, is a real breakthrough. It involves taking a small portion of tissue from a growing hair follicle.
There are two areas in the hair follicle that contain stem cells and both of these can promote hair growth. If a small part of the hair follicle is left behind in the donor area, a new hair can grow from it and the part that has been removed will also produce hair if replanted in the recipient area.
One hair follicle can therefore produce two or more hairs. Yes after six months it’s possible to return and add a third new hair follicle! Thus the fundamental advantage over other methods is that you within reason you can add as much hair as you wish-or are prepared to pay for. This has huge advantages over conventional procedures where often you are left desperately attempting to better redistribute the little you have left.
In the hair multiplication procedure, part follicles are taken from areas of the body immune to the effects of the male sex hormones (androgens) which are responsible for male pattern baldness – in other words from areas where men, or women, don’t go bald. The part follicular cells are then carefully implanted, follicle by follicle, into the bald areas, leaving no visible scarring. Result? Natural hair growing where you thought you’d lost it forever.
Hair Transplant Procedure
Individual grafts, that contain 1-3 hairs (or rather hair follicles), are extracted by tiny (0.75mm) specially developed needle from donor area, and then are implanted into minute holes into the recipient area.
During the time between extraction and implantation the grafts are being kept in special solution with protecting and nurturing agents that help the new hair growth and recipient area healing. Recipient area holes are made by similar special needle as used for extraction, so they have the same shape as grafts for the best possible graft / hole fit.
We would be delighted to assists with real and effective hair transplant results.
